Prehistoric

A stonebilled stork I saw in the botanic Gardens in Entebbe, two things struck me about this bird, its beak and its feather pattern like armour which made me think of it as a prehistoric bird

WOW what an astounding bird!!!! Its incredible and you are so right about it looking prehistoric. I'm assuming this stork flies? It must be an amazing sight. It actually looks more like a bird of pray than a stork....wouldn't be too happy having a baby delivered by that lol hhehehe! Wonderful capture mate, how close did you have to get? and what size would you recon he is? Sorry so many questions but I'm fascinated!!!

@Linerberry: LOL No I sure wouldnt want this delivering a baby, this was actually taken though a wire fence, in one spot there was aa hole just big enough to shot through and this one happenned to be in the right place.
they were maybe 10 to 15 feet away from me, and from memory I would say they were about 4 foot tall

wow, i almost thought it was a statue, looking at the beak! but then the feathers look soft and detailed... great capture!!

I really like the way you've balanced the texture of his feathers with the bokeh of the background. he certainly does look like some kind of pterodactyl.
