And here is my Mini Bio
Well I am a kiwi, which is what we from new Zealand call ourselves, the Kiwi which is the national bird of New Zealand is a bird that doesnt fly, which isnt applicable to me I have been traveling and living out of NZ for over 20 years now.
OK about me, I am a quiet guy for the most part, grew up in a little town in NZ, joined the army when I was 19 and stayed there for 12 years and then got a job overseas and have been living and working abroad since then currently in NY with my lovely wife :).
Have been to over 50 countries in my travels,
I do have four beautiful Daughters, all pretty much grown up now back in NZ who I love dearly
I have over the years had various point and shoot cameras but only in the last few months got initially a bridge camera and now a point an shoot, and really enjoying this new hobby I have found.
I am a quite guy as I said earlier and dont like big crowds and can be very shy, but with people I know I can be an utter nutter
Cheers
JJ
Thank you for taking the time to visit. I really appreciate all your comments, and welcome any critique as I am learning the art of photography, and having a blast with it
Was away for a while but finally back
Other shots are posted on my flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/tattoodjay/
IF you see yourself in any of my people on the street shots and want it to be removed please contact me and I will remove it straight away
Superb. And nice to meet you.
I always think a self portrait should have an element of surprise, and leave something to the imagination, and you've done exactly that. Perfect

@FLOOG: Thanks Floog, Basically i just hate photos of myself and hence went for this approach, but now I will use your words to explain this shot ;)
Hey there JJ, how neat to meet you, see I thought you were a girl lol I enjoyed this artistic self-portrait, bravo :)
29 Oct 2008 5:30am
@Lorraine: Thanks Lorraine, No I am definitely a guy, I used to be the typical young Macho male type, but getting on in years and can get in touch with my emotional and sensitive side so maybe thats why people may have taken me as a lady
Great capture and are you going to come back to NZ? :)
29 Oct 2008 5:48am
@Zing: Thanks Zing, I am hoping to get back for a visit early next year, maybe april may since I will be a granddad around then :), as for where I will settle when I retire, no idea at this stage, Wife is from England, and has also lived away from there for quite a few years so choosing a place to settle is still a tough call
Hey nice shot... Nice to meet you (as in see you)... Hope to meet you someday...

29 Oct 2008 11:52am
@Earnest: Thanks Earnest, Funny how I dont want a photo thats clear of me and yet for some reason in this community I felt comfortable enough to tell more about me that many close to me or work colleagues dont even know
I like you finished with So far, thats how I feel, at 15 I remember thinking I dont want to be stuck in NZ, I want to see at least 5 countries before I turn 40, now my new aim is 60 countries before I hit 60 :)

29 Oct 2008 1:07pm
What an interesting life you have led, you must have some amazing stories to tell. Great shot, different, colourful, shows just enough.
29 Oct 2008 1:28pm
Hi JJ... pleased to meet you mate :) Interesting bio.
29 Oct 2008 1:29pm
Clever you, haha! Very creatively done self portrait, wish I 'd thought something like that, too. I've never made any self or other portraits. On purpose, I mean.
29 Oct 2008 1:30pm
Hi JJ ! Nice to meet you, but difficult to really see you on this however colorful and creative picture. Now we have an idea about what is your life but not about your face... :-))
29 Oct 2008 1:49pm
@Evelyne Dubos: Maybe if a few years if another self portrait day comes up I will reveal more LOL
Love the self portrait, JJ! A very original piece of work -- although perhaps one day you will decide to reveal yourself to us more clearly! What an interesting life you've had, too, with all that travelling. Another surprise for me, is that you're a New Zealander. We both really love your home country, although so far we've only seen the North Island.
29 Oct 2008 2:15pm
@Andrew Gould: Thanks Andrew,
Yes I am indeed a kiwi, but if you heard me talk you would never guess, working in a multicultural office I have lost so much of my accent, My wife also loves NZ from the two trips she has had there with me, she has also only seen the North Island, maybe next time will show her some of the south
Hi JJ. I am a fan of your blog. That is one messed up mirror, dude!
29 Oct 2008 2:33pm
nice to see you JJ, and good to learn more about you.
I like detail of the US flag in the background and the portrait of a man whose moustache and colouring make him look a little like Saddam...
29 Oct 2008 2:42pm

Very effective self portrait considering your quietness! Thanks for the bio! Photography is such a fabulous hobby and if you are interested in the world and the people in it , it becomes a way of expressing what at times you cannot say. i am a Kiwi also, and am still in love with the awesome beauty of this place, despite some travel! Very nice to meet you JJ.
29 Oct 2008 7:21pm

Ooooo!!!! Very creative - a perfect photographer's (aka camera-shy) portrait. Nice to meet you. Kind of funny isn't it how life has taken you all over the world and somehow you ended up in our living rooms or offices or wherever tonight?
29 Oct 2008 11:14pm
You really took this photo shoot and ran with it. Really nice job of creating your own idea of a self portrait reflection.

30 Oct 2008 2:49am
HELLO JJ!!! :D Well no offense -- (nearly last but not least, i should add), but i am coming to the end of one INCREDIBLE day of self portraits -- of which YOURS is truly SPECTACULAR indeed!! THANK YOU HEAPS -- not only for your OVERWHELMINGLY cool self portrait, but also for your FASCINATING and quite personal bio too!!! Its amazing what you find out when you get people to talk about themselves!!! I had no idea you worked for the UN and that is VERY COOL indeed!!! :D We will have to chat about that offline!!! This is the most unrestrained shot -- the patterning from the 'mirrors' is just the most amazing visual effect that correctly HIDES much more than it REVEALS!!! ;) However, having said that, your BIO opens you right up like a book -- and now i do feel i know you quite a bit better!! Cheers to you mate -- Last but certainly NOT least -- BRAVO!!! :D
30 Oct 2008 3:05am
