Sunset in battery Park

I dont often take sunset shots but this is one I took recently as the sun was setting in the background in Battery Park
Thank you for taking the time to visit. I really appreciate all your comments, and welcome any critique as I am learning the art of photography, and having a blast with it
Getting ready for a work trip from the 29th so may not be able to check all your posts but will do as and when I can

I am more of a morning person, generally by the time I leave work at the end of the day just dont have the motivation to get out shooting

Wonderful capture, JJ. Now I'm wondering if you take the ferry back and forth to NJ?
PS: I may have said this before, but our dtr lived for several years in Battery Park City ... in the building closest to the Hudson ... 28th floor walk-up before the elevators were completed!

No I generally dont take the ferry, did so for the first time last week, I generally take the PATH train into the city and back

I think it's a war memorial, Elaine. Revolutionary War or War of 1812 or perhaps both.
Are the archaeologists still digging in the park or did they finally get through with that? It's been a long time since I've been there.

JJ, I am under the impression of this composition. There is something in her monumental, and simultaneously gentle. He is history and memory about her, he is the miraculous sky and calm water...The exquisite work.

To be honest it was after seeing one of your shots shooting into the light I got the idea to head to get this shot one day, took me a while to do it, but thanks for the inspiration on this one

@Rui: Finally managed to find out about this statue/memorial
Here, sculptor Marisol Escobar, one of the most significant artists of the Pop era and a long-time resident of Lower Manhattan, depicts merchant marines on a sinking lifeboat. Inspired by a photograph from a WWII-era issue of Life Magazine that showed the victims of a submarine attack on a merchant vessel, the 1991 memorial is dedicated to all of the American merchant marines from the Revolutionary war to the present. The names of 6700 merchant seamen lost at sea in WWI and WWII are inscribed in the boat's interior.

You've done well to avoid clipped highlights shooting straight into the light and it's paid off beautifully creating a fitting backdrop to the memorial.
