A sun halo over NYC

I take a break from my NZ shots today to post a shot I took yesterday at lunchtime
After my lunchtime walk, as I was walking back to the Office I looked up and saw this Sun Halo and snapped a few shots, the building top left is the Chrysler building one of my personal favorite landmark buildings in the city
If your wondering what causes a sun Halo, I did some googling and its apparently happens when there is a thin layer of clouds with small ice crystals which refract the sun and create the rainbow like halo

You do mean the TOP left, JJ, right, for the Chrysler Building? It's one of my favorites, too, especially from your delightful POV here. And to catch a sun halo with it is awesome. Lucky you. :)

A jet's con trail is an element that I generally try to avoid - but in this case - they enhance the image - nearly looking intentional. What a beautiful and powerful image, JJ - a great composition.

I recently took a trip down to the city. I took some photographs of the buildings, but nothing nearly as compelling as this photo. Kudos! Next time I'm down there, I'll be sure to point my camera a little higher at the sky.
