Why oh why do people feel the need to do thisPosted by JJ (Jersey City, United States) on 20 June 2010 in Landscape & Rural. Saw this on one of my morning walks when I was out at a conference centre in Glen Cove of recent and went for morning walk, and wondered why do people do these things, I guess in this case alcohol could be blamed, and on its own it isnt an environmental disaster like BP has caused in the gulf, but if we all dont as individuals do our bit how can we blame the big corporations "When we tug at a single thing in nature, we find it attached to the rest of the world." Thank you for taking the time to visit. I really appreciate all your comments, and welcome any critique as I am learning the art of photography, and having a blast with it IF you see yourself in any of my people on the street shots and want it to be removed please contact me and I will remove it straight away

Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesYou might find it hard to believe but I come upon plastic bags, bottles, refrigerators, gas ovens, and many other odd items on my journeys in the woods.... It infuriates me... 20 Jun 2010 5:05am akarui from Kagoshima, JapanIt might be a question of education? Seeing also similar acts may give ideas to others... 20 Jun 2010 6:02am Bettina from Los Angeles, United StatesHard to understand much of what people do. Don't see the big picture. Don't understand their connection to it all. Driven by compulsions. Don't understand the concept of consequences. But other than the broken beer bottle, this is a beautiful image and fence. 20 Jun 2010 6:37am Avinash from Dharamshala, Indiathese all are self ethics...which one should always follow..nice to look at ...but bad to do that.. 20 Jun 2010 6:47am Krunal from Mumbai, Indianice capture, mischief and alcohol don't go together very well 20 Jun 2010 7:02am Tede from Aubenas 07, FranceThe lack of respect for nature is evident everywhere and it's a shame because people will eventually kill our beautiful planet. Good Sunday, friendships. 20 Jun 2010 7:55am RORO from LE HAVRE, FranceBecause many people are stupid, no more explanation ... 20 Jun 2010 8:01am Bruno from froyennes, Belgiumno respect for our (?) earth ... at human level (like BP does at "industrial" level) 20 Jun 2010 8:26am Tamara from Aarschot, BelgiumUnfortunately it's the same whole over the world ! The lack of respect is everywhere... So sad :( 20 Jun 2010 8:36am kiwisa from North Shore, New ZealandSadly this type of activity happens everywhere, even in clean, green NZ. It makes me so mad because how hard is it to carry that bottle to a rubbish bin. 20 Jun 2010 9:09am Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United StatesThank you for connecting the two elements of disaster, and that's exactly what this is ... why, why, why? 20 Jun 2010 9:10am Nadiuska from NetherlandsI think people think it's funny or something like that, JJ. 20 Jun 2010 9:39am Florence from Paris, FranceYes, why ? Because human beeings are programmed to destroy. And they succeed in very well. Paleotonlogists and other scientists have noticed and dated 4 or 5 major catastrophic events millions years ago (which led to make definitely disappear several living creatures and specimens), until the last one (60 millions years ago) which have led to kill dinosaurs. These events were only based on climate events and/or geological events. This time, human beeing is already responsible for killing several species. I have no doubt about our creativity to go further. 20 Jun 2010 10:00am KBR from Geneva, Switzerlandagree with Florence, humans seems to have a destructive tendency, not forgetting our consumer society, the system is also a source. 20 Jun 2010 10:16am Scene by Sharon Photography from Kingston, Ontario, Canadasome people just don't care ... they never think about the long-term ramifications of polluting ... and, in this case, the danger ... it is a good thing some people DO care 20 Jun 2010 11:15am grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomBe nice to follow them home and up end a dustbin full of rubbish in their living room. Nice joinery detail on the fencing though 20 Jun 2010 11:22am foto-rolero54 from Charleroi, BelgiumDifficult to include/understand the mentality of people, who pollutes, alas that this finds everywhere, beautiful photograph. JJ 20 Jun 2010 12:04pm tataray from france, FranceLes gens ne respectent rien ... Because they are callous idiots? I'm sure the reasons for some humans acting this way are legion........Pretty pitiful, isn't it? But each one of us that "thinks" can surely make a difference!!! 20 Jun 2010 1:37pm Don from spokane, United StatesA nice subject for a picture. I like the textures in the fence. 20 Jun 2010 2:03pm Larry Elkins from Bisbee, United StatesYes. It's sad that sometimes people don't seem to comprehend that their actions have consequence. Larry 20 Jun 2010 2:03pm john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesWe humans don't have a great track record. I love the fence. 20 Jun 2010 2:13pm john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesPS - money or alcohol, or both, seem to be connected to most of our godawful behavior. 20 Jun 2010 2:15pm MARIANA from Waterloo, Canadagreat focus and details . Well, there are every kind of people ! 20 Jun 2010 2:17pm Lalena from Barcelona, SpainYour question is very interesting. I think the education is one... Each of us are responsible of own little big actions. 20 Jun 2010 6:55pm Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesJohn Muir has it right. And with this photo, you've raised the gazillion-dollar question. Why do people insist on trashing the world with their junk? Laziness? Immaturity? Maybe both? It is easy enough to put empty bottles and bags on the floor of your pickup or SUV until you get home, then recycle or trash it properly. I walk my dog daily in a local park. It's a pretty, wooded place. But invariably I find plastic water bottles and grocery bags strewn randomly around our route. Since the oil spill I have been much more focused on the amount of petro-chem products that smother our lives in trash - water bottles, plastic grocery bags, bubble packs on items we buy, and on and on. So much of it is needless. I've begun a personal campaign of trying to resist buying plastic things wherever possible. It isn't easy to find green packaging. In the park I've also begun picking up other peoples' throwaway plastic when I can and discarding it at the trash receptacle (there is usually one within 50 steps of the place the trash has been thrown/blown). It's a small thing, but it is one thing I can do to serve. 20 Jun 2010 6:56pm Farnaaz from Iran, IranTrue . True . True . 20 Jun 2010 7:25pm danou from FranceEarth gone terribly wrong, the man laughs at everything, polueur and violent! terific !!! 20 Jun 2010 7:42pm Craig@RandomRamblings from United KingdomYou could blame the drink but it looks like there's malice intended too, either way it's a perfect example of the need to destroy the world we live in that is felt by some. It also reminds me I haven't had a good old rant on my blog for ages! ;) 20 Jun 2010 8:17pm ✿ Anina ✿ from Auckland, New ZealandYes, WHY? Sometimes I think people (okay not all people) stopped using their brains. And the worst part is, it's not getting better. It seems the "I don't care attitude" is contageous. 20 Jun 2010 9:47pm Otto K. from Atlanta, United StatesYou're right about doing our bit. We need more people to do theirs. 20 Jun 2010 10:21pm Cheished Keepsake Photography from Chapmanville, United Statesyour statement says it all. Well done on opening eyes.. we all need to do our part 20 Jun 2010 10:30pm derek from United Kingdommakes you wonder about some of the sick people out there 20 Jun 2010 11:06pm Becky from los angeles, United StatesWe have some big changes coming up. Interesting and important capture! 20 Jun 2010 11:45pm flyingwind风飞扬 from Bridgetown, BarbadosWonderful compo! But so inconceivable that the bottle grows there. Why? 21 Jun 2010 12:52am Wild Mustang Photography from Carlisle, United StatesI know How you feel ! I do not understand that! They have no soul. They have blank minds.Nice shot JJ ,minus the bottle. 21 Jun 2010 1:44am Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, CanadaNo matter where you go, an idiot will have been there before you. 21 Jun 2010 4:15am Ginnie from NetherlandsI always think, "If everybody did this...!" and then I picture what the place would look like with 10,000 broken bottles like that. If everyone threw out their cigarettes or gum wrappers or pop cans, etc., etc., what a mess it would be. So you are so correct. If WE, one by one, don't do our part, we are just as much to blame! 21 Jun 2010 4:32am Astrid from NetherlandsI know....it is sad, even if the brand is Heineken....take out the bottle and the image is wonderful, the bottle however adds a lot of drama in it. 21 Jun 2010 4:49am Anne from a little red dot, SingaporeGood capture! I don't understand it too, perhaps too lazy or no bins around...but still, they should place it in the thrash bin when they find one later... 21 Jun 2010 6:49am Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United KingdomSigh . . a question that so often comes to my mind . . I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one who cares. 21 Jun 2010 7:51am Xerophytes from London, United KingdomPeople do weird things. It shows that humans came from monkeys. :] Love the shot ! :) 21 Jun 2010 12:12pm Sandy Weston from Madison, Maine, United StatesThat glass is so dangerous for some kid to come near it. Not only is it careless but not responsible as some child could cut themselves with the way it is now. 22 Jun 2010 2:50am |
